This week on the Tapers Section is a recap of Saturday March 2, 2024 at the Pour House. I spent the entire day there, starting with the Celebration of Life I organized for my best friend and taping partner George Rainey, generously hosted by the Pour House. My brother would have wanted me to tape every note of music on his day. His celebration featured Bobby Hogg and Rob Williams,as well as a set by Josh Roberts. All the musicians were friends with George and kindly donated their time. I chose March 2 because Sam Holt was playing the inside stage and I knew a ton of tapers and friends of George from around the southeast would be here. It was beautiful. Big Richard, an all female bluegrass band from Colorado played also, luckily I got a nice recording of them. And I slid in a sweet Jerry Garcia Band track from 1977, one of George's favorite songs "Reuben and Cherise". It was a beautiful day and my brother's energy was felt everywhere.
