June 3rd, 2021 Karen and Wade Horn's daughter, Insley passed away at the age of 9 years old from an asymptomatic brain tumor. With no warning, it was 3 days from diagnosis to death, The Horn's were left shocked and devastated by their loss. During this very hard time they found out that very little federal funding is given to pediatric cancers, with this information they realized that Insley's light in this world was too bright to be dimmed and that her impact on this world would be carried on by helping to give back to research so that other parents wouldn't have to suffer this loss. In 2021 The Monka Foundation was established in honor of Insley and her favorite stuffed animal and very best friend, Monka. The Monka Foundation gives back to pediatric brain cancer research, pediatric brain cancer patients and their families, and also back to the amazing teams at their local hospital, who made such an impact in their very short time there with Insley. Karen and Wade joined us on Live and Local today.
